An Exquisite Journey of Love and Social Conventions: "Pride and Prejudice" - Writing a Film Review #coteaching #alqareading

Our book club on "Pride and Prejudice," a timeless classic written by Jane Austen, has captivated our students for its intricate portrayal of society, romance, and the complexities of human nature.

For that, the students have worked on the novel from a historical literary and linguistic perspectives. In the meantime, we went to the cinema club to watch the film adaptation in its original version. In their assigned task, our students must write a film review, exploring how the film successfully brings Jane Austen's story to life.

While "Pride and Prejudice" is set in the past, its themes and social commentary remain relevant to this day. The film deftly explores the limitations and expectations placed upon women, the perils of judging others hastily, and the importance of love rooted in understanding and respect. The timeless nature of these themes ensures that the story, with the appropriate help and Cross-curricular work, can captivate the attention of our fourth graders.

All in all, the film adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice" captures the essence of Jane Austen's style and we, as viewers were transported to a world of love, societal expectations, and personal growth, that we have remembered today in class by watching some scenes that have left us all inspired and longing for more of Austen's literary masterpieces.
