Role-playing, as stated before in this blog, is a great way for students to try out their English. We use it very often to practice new contextualised language. Most of my #ESO1 students love having the opportunity to use their English in an imaginary situation but in a quite realistic setting. Even the quieter and shy students are willing to use their English in context. The use of spontaneous speech boosts their confidence and they all often take the role-play much further than anyone would have thought possible: today they even introduced the corona-virus into their travelling stories!
