Although the name of the world's most famous video game competition (eSports) has the word "sports" included in its title, it is not entirely a sport. That is to say: by definition, a sport is "a physical activity". Gaming is not about exercise, but it is about competition, which is the next part of the definition. In my opinion, gaming should not be considered as a sport beyond the competitive part, but as a social network, as you play online with friends, meet people, make friends and strengthen existing friendships, after all.

In my point of view, gaming can't be considered as a sport because when you are talking about "sport" you are refering to a series of physical activities with competitive attitudes and I don't see any physical efforts in holding a controller. Talking about if it could be considered as a social media, I think it can be because when you play, in some videogames, you have different options to meet new people and to establish new friendships.

  4. Should video games be a sport?
The structure is similar to conventional sports such as football or basketball, there are teams sponsored by large companies, star signings, great prizes awarded by multinationals, merchandising, great expectation and euphoric fans to see their team rise to glory. It's also true that they could never be because of the little physical effort that is made, but like chess, video games require great mental effort and amazing reflexes, not counting all the hours that are needed of training to reach a certain level of professionalism.
Video games can also be considered social networks because in video games you meet new people and play with others online.

How can we define the word sport? Firstly we have to think of the things that it involves, such as competitiveness, training, a set of rules and a physical activity.
So if we talk about gaming, we would find all those requirements except maybe the latest one. However, this energy expenditure also appears in some video games, or even in all of them, depending on what we understand physical activity is.
In conclusion, as far as I’m concerned, gaming contains referees, tournaments, spectators, commentators, coaches, sponsors, strategy plans and both mental and physical preparation. Therefore, it is a social media in which a set of people interact with each other with the purpose of enjoying and sharing interests.

I think gaming is not entirely a sport, as playing with your friends spending some of your free time is not a sport, but if you participate in any competition of any game this is called "eSports" and in my opinion any gaming competition should be considered a sport.. Gaming is very related with social media because you can see a lot of people playing in different apps and a lot of people is talking, in all kind of social media, about gaming. Also some competition are in-person, but the mayority are online so this makes it part of the social media.

  7. I think gaming is NO a sport because you don't do any physical efford although sometimes you can get very angry and break something. But in my opinion it's a social media because you interact with a lot of people. It's the best thing we can do now, but be carefull, because they can take a toll on you studies if you don´t organize well.

  8. I think that it is a sport because normally in games you need to think a lot and that's an effort that you need to do. If chess is considered a sport I think games should be considered a sport too.

  9. For me, gamng is a sport.
I have been a lot years playing videogames and following some big competitions or events of the videogames that I like the most and I think that they can be consider an sport because of the preparation it requires and the difficulty it has.
Also, gaming has a social media part but I think that the social media part can be consider the same as the social media part that have the football or other sport.
In conclusion, I think that you will consider gaming a sport if you know all what you can find behind them.

  10. I think that videogames should be considered a sport. Because some games make you think. Also moving the joystick and pushing the buttons for many hours is really exhausting.

In my opinion, video games are a sport. Because the effort required to play them is in some cases really great. Video games take a fair amount of concentration and skills to be successful at them, and it takes some time to achieve these goals. For this reason, I think gaming should be considered a sport.

To my way of thinking, gaming isn.'t a sport, but palying videogames in a competitive way is a sport.. The thoughts that support this opinion are that when you're playing videogames competitively, you have to be focused on your game, you need to practice many hours to reach a great level. As a sport you trained your body in a phisical way to be ready on your competition, in e-Sport, you train your mind and reflexes to be the number one. Last, but not least, I consider gaming a social media. You can meet new people as passionatedd as you, ,share your pleasures, do a competition against other players as you around the world

I don't think that it can be considered a sport because a sport is a physical activity and has an increase of the heart beats and gaming just involves holding the controller while paying attention to the game. However, I think that it can be a social media because you can meet new people and make new friendships and talk to your friends.
