Learning idioms thanks to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", by María José Díaz Vidarte #ESO2 #LITERACY

A few weeks ago, and thanks to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, our 2EC students learnt about hyperboles. This week, and thanks to Alice, too, we have been working with idioms.

Reading this book (not an adaptation) can be a bit challenging for our ESO2 students, to top it up with understanding English idioms just adds fuel to the fire (😊🙌 idiom there!). Without the awareness and knowledge about idioms, students would have been prone to just take their literal meaning, which most often would not correspond to anything that makes sense in their mother tongue. This would lead to students misunderstanding the true meaning of the context.To avoid that, our teacher María José has been working hard with them to approach idioms in the last read chapter (number six already!) in a very enjoyable way.
