HUMAN GENETIC DISORDERS: Haemophilia
Language Skills in Science
Today the World Haemophilia Day is observed. It is about awareness and about bridging the global bleeding disorders community together. With the COVID-19 pandemic having a major impact on people with a bleeding disorder, that objective has never been more important.
The lesson is structured into two different parts: firstly, the students were provided some cards and they had to estimate if their offspring would inherit haemophilia, thus working on speaking skills.
Later on in the lesson, the students watched a video (practising their listening comprehension skills) and completed a QUIZ.
The second part of the lesson was a research (this part will take up two sessions, though). They were provided some flashcards at random with rare genetic diseases. After the research, they must elaborate a presentation which will be given in the next lesson in class.
Thanks to Cristina for a great management of the lesson.
Watch the video below to have an idea of what was the lesson like.
