I did the tongue twisters game. I chose this one because I love the tongue twisters. I tried them and they were mostly difficult! But I had fun with them. The game is about words that are really similar forming sentences, therefore they are so difficult to pronounce.
I also tried the unique words game and it was really cool. It had words that are unique to different cultures and languages.
Then, I self-evaluate my language skills, I sent you the screenshot of my results. This was my favourite activity. It had questions that you had to answer with "yes, I do" or "no, not yet" to see your English level.
Finally, I played the All the colours of the rainbow game and I saw different expressions with names of colours in them.

GAMING
The first image (SCREENSHOT) is the game ''idioms of the world'' and you have to put an idiom of your language, translate it and explain what it means and the second image is ''longest word", what you have to do is to write the largest word of your language and translate it in English, for example in Spain the largest word have 23 letters and in Swedish there is a word that contains 131 letters.

GAMING, by Irene Merayo Urbano
The first one was about trying to guess the language people were talking in just based on an audio file, and the second one was a memory game in which I had to match latin letters with their corresponding Cyrillic characters.
Additionally, our #ESO1 students had a deep dive into the topic since they also worked with their Teacher Raquel HernAndez on this beautifully amazing Mural.
For me the most unexpeted was the origin of the word floric. The one wich shock me more was the origin of the word bire. It shock me because the name of the ballpoint pen comes from it´s inventor. As I didn´t know that so it surprise me.
For me the one which shocked me the most was when I heard that someone can be fluent in eleven languages. This is very impressive for me, I think that I’m only fluent in two languages, Spanish and English. Two years ago when my class and I started learning French I didn’t understand anything and it was very difficult for me. I really want to learn more languages like Italian. I love it. When I traveled to Italy one year ago I was shocked each time when I heard Italians talk to each other. To learn languages at the beginning is very difficult and there are always more things to learn, new expressions… but when you learn it is like you are another person living another life, this is my impression when I start learning a new language. When I talk English I think that I live in England and I’m an English teenager girl.
Well, when I saw all the words and theur origins I was not surprised a lot but about Frolic - from Dutch vrolijk (cheerful). I did not have an idea at all, this may awake an interest about german,
What has surprised me the most has been Alex, he speaks eleven languages, and from what Marina has told us today, he already speaks fifteen, I find it very interesting and shocking that a person can speak fifteen languages and understand them all, I can only speak two fluently, I can't imagine speaking fifteen but I guess it's all a matter of practice.
Para mí lo más inesperado fue que exista un día europeo de las lenguas, ya que no me había informado de ello, lo cuál me ha parecido bastante bien, porque aunque haya personas que no las considere tan importantes de lo que son, puesto que son nuestro medio más frecuente de comunicación. Lo que más me sorprendió fue como una persona puede hablar tantos idiomas, sin ninguna dificultad, y ningún medio para consultar
Why are you answering this question in Spanish I really hope you are not making use of Google Translate... you don't really need to cheat because you have a good English so please trust yourself and do it again.

For me, the one that shocked me most was in the news that said that a man learns 11 languages! How did he learn so many languages? It is awesome! It was for me the most that shocked me because I didn’t mind that it was possible and the one that unexpected was that poster that said “Thank you” in different languages, and talking of the poster, I love it, because it’s very creative and originality to put the different ways to said “Thank you” in little papers of different colours, it was beautiful and very colorful.
-More than 200 fake languages have been created for literature and cinema such as Elvish“ Lord of the Rings” and Klingon in “ Star Trek”. -For me it is surprising that more than 200 new languages are invented for the cinema or other things since for me it’s quite difficult to learn a new language and do it much more. The people who invent them have to have a very good imagination or they were born with it because creating new ways to write the letters, how to pronounce them, the order ... is very difficult and has to take a lot of time.
The thing most schock me was that a person can speak more than eleven languages fluently and he is Aldo learning and promting then to the people and he os not confused por tired of learning and promting then.
What impressed me the most was how Alex speaks those 11 languages that he knows fluently. If it were me, I would mix them up and I wouldn't remember what word was each language !!!
I loved the picture about the origin of some English words. It shows how, in the end, languages that seem totally different have lots of things in common or, at least, maintain some type of correlation. I was also astonished by the ability Alex Rawlings has to speak that many languages with almost no accent. If I heard him talking in the street, I would completely assume he is Spanish because of his great pronunciation. I wonder how many more languages he will know by the time he's older.
In my opinion the most unexpected one was "You have a lovely accent" because there were lots of people saying the same sentence but in different languages, but it sounded so different! Also, in this video I realised that the dumb language varies on what country you are. For me, the one which shoked me more, was that one person can speak 11 languages! I don´t know how the person doesn´t make a mess with those all languages!
For me the news that has impacted me the most has been the news of the man who learned 11 languages. And the one that impacted me the least was the origin of the word floric.
Hi Marina! The fact that surprised me the most was the fact that only one in every 510 is a Q in English. Why? Because it is very common in Spanish using the Q, for example, every time we want to ask for something (¿Qué ocurre?) .
For me, two of the facts that surprised me the more were that English is the official language of 54 countries and Spanish is the second most widely spoken language in the world. Also that there is a boy called Alex Rawlings who can speak 11 languages.
Good afternoon, Marina! I found the interview of Alex Rawlings really interesting! It's so difficult to learn that quantity of languages. I'll love to learn that amount of languages too someday. I watched all the videos and pictures and I was shocked when I read the fact that said that there is not a "yes" or "no" in Irish. It's amazing! (And also quite unexpected for me) This two were the things that surprised me more.
I was really surprised when I read that porpoise literally means “pork-fish”. It was really fun reading that, and I enjoyed reading the different facts.
I didn't expect the word robot to come from Czech at all. Its'a language I don't really think about very often and I was really surprised when I found out this word's origin!
I think what shocked me the most is that this men calle Alex Rawlings can be fluent in eleven languages I even know two languages and what I unexpected is that the english would be the idiom of 54 countries I use to think that it was only of EEUU and fromUK
SPEAKING ENGLISH IN EUROPE One of the most shocking things in the padlet for me was the fact that there’s a man who’s fluent in 11 languages, because I didn’t even know that a person could learn that many and I find it really impressive. Another interesting infographic was the one that contained information related to the origin of several words, as I have learnt a lot reading it.
The thing that has shocked me the most is the fact that Alex can speak more than 11 languages. I knew that many people could speak 3 or 4 languages, but eleven languages is a very shocking and wonderful thing.
The most unexpected one was that the word Cockroach comes from Spanish, and the one shoked me most is the idiom in the video "ahh dey doo doh dohnt dey doh
The one that most shocked me was the boy who learned more than 15 languages and also at a very young age. I think his techniques and advice are very interesting.
All the European languages were so shocking because all are different and all the languages express the same things but with different words. The language that impressed me the most was Polish because the words are so rare and different from our language.
The one that I chose, is guy that speaks 11 languages. I think that it is amazing. I think he started study when he was very young. I will love to know all that languages and more!
I played, tongue twisted, it is about different "expressions" from other countries, and I played "All the colors of the rainbow" it's about the expressions that include colours and their meanings.
I think the more unexpected is the person that can speak eleven languages in one of the vídeos and I am really iin sock with the german Language because it is very difficult to pronounce and to understand, it is too complicated for me.

ReplyDeleteI honestly didn’t expect the word “bamboozle” to come from baboon, but after reading the explanation it makes sense.
