First of all, Rousseau thought that true equality doesn't necessarily mean that everyone must be equally wealthy, but that nobody, no matter how much money they have, should be able to buy someone else or be forced to sell themselves. That's why he believed that sovereignty ought to reside in the people and that they should allow a higher authority to govern in their name for the benefit of the community. He also defended that even if abuse seems inevitable, people must enforce the power of legislation, instead of giving up trying to regulate it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with him up to a point, because I consider that what he says about equality not meaning that everyone must have the same amount of wealth is not totally true. That's because I take the view that everybody should have the same resources and opportunities. On the other hand, I see eye to eye with him regarding sovereignty residing in the people and trying to regulate abuse.
He said that the sovereignty should be reside in the people because he defended that people must be free.
ReplyDeleteI almost totally agree with him due to the fact that the freedom is something essential for the human beings. However, I don´t really agree the part that he said that the humans are naturally good. The reason is that this depends on the person, not all the people in the world are naturally good.
Rousseau's argument in the Discourse is that the only natural inequality among men is the inequality that results from differences in physical strength, for this is the only sort of inequality that exists in the state of nature. I agree with him.
ReplyDeleteRosusseau think about equality and freedom for all the people, that sovereignty should reside in the people. Yes, I’m agree whit Rousseau because all humans have to be equal in society, all have the same necessity
ReplyDeleteHe thought that the only inequality should be is the physical one. I'd agree with this because the only difference between people is it's hair color or height or strength.
ReplyDeleteRousseau believed in equality; he thought that everyone should have the same rights.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't agree about the fact that most people should have the same money, he just believed that everyone must have the money they needed for their own needs.
I think he was right, in our world, there are many rich and poor people. The rich people have extra money while the poor people don't have any money. But if in this world there were real equality and everybody had more or less the same money, no one would be starving.
He said inequality means that no one is so rich that they can buy someone else, and no one is so poor that they have to sell themselves. I agree with this, because I think that having to "sell" yourself makes you lose your identity as a human being. And I also share his opinion on the fact that this doesn't mean we all need to have the same amount of wealth, because that is impossible.
ReplyDeleteRousseau thought that humans were not evil by birth, and he wanted to reach an equality between everyone. I’m agree with him because I think that we are good at first but our environment make us evils.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the book, Rosseau said that natural forces tend to destroy equality and we must make the force of legislation tend to maintain it. I agree because laws are tools to ensure equality between people and equality is essential to guarantee freedom.
