As you know, a language is not just made up of islolated chunks of grammar, but it is a whole (spider) web where everything is connected and where everything matters. Culture matters. The aim of celebrating Halloween at school is a cultural one. We learn a language, we learn a culture, we USE THE LANGUAGE, we can understand the culture: we keep our minds open. The main aims of incorporating Halloween into the Literacy "curriculum" are:
- To integrate cultural awareness into the class so as to develop a richer understanding of the diversity in every culture.
- To introduce / practise Halloween related vocabulary (cultural, cross-linguistic items).
- To work on pronunciation and rhyming sounds.
- To take this oportunity to gamify so as the students enjoy while they learn at the same time and, the truth is...
We had a blast!
Every single day we learn something new!
