Victoria Merino, one of our Science teachers first introduced the activity to the students by reminding them about the fact that all living things have DNA: the chemical instructions on how to make a living thing, from humans to strawberries.
Many of our students had initially assumed that because DNA is so small, we cannot see it without using powerful microscopes. But in fact, DNA can be easily seen with the naked eye when collected from thousands of cells.
We all had great fun (me included!) with this interesting activity in which our students could extract and view DNA from some delicious strawberries. Thanks Victoria for such a motivating lesson.
