Our AlqaCouncil Shop is open for smart shopping #ESO1 #Literacy #designthinking #PROBLEMSOLVING (FIRST SESSION)
As you all know, our ESO1 students are slowly turning into design thinkers. But... what do we mean by that? What is actually design thinking? Can it be adapted, adopted and implemented in class? Definitely yes! Design Thinking is not an exclusive property of designers—all great innovators in literature, art, music, science, engineering, and business have practised it. So, why call it Design Thinking? What’s special about Design Thinking is that designers’ work processes can help us systematically extract, teach, learn and apply these human-centred techniques to solve problems in a creative and innovative way – in our designs, in our businesses, in our countries, in our lives.
To be good Design Thinkers our students follow several steps:
They Empathise with their potential users (that is to say, their classmates) for that, they must analyse their potential users needs.
They define their potential users or classmates’ needs, their problems.
They build their idea by challenging assumptions and creating ideas for solutions.
They prototype, that is to say they start creating/inventing solutions
This time they had to think about a smart item of clothing or accessory and design it. They will then explain the class what their product is, what is it made of, how useful it is, and how much worth is the money they must pay for it.
Here's to the imagination!
