WHY READING IS MORE IMPORTANT NOW THAN EVER!
During the last year when most countries have seen periods of confinement and people have had to limit their time spent outside, books have proved to be powerful tools to combat isolation, reinforce ties between people, expand our horizons, while stimulating our minds and creativity. In some countries the number of books read has doubled.
During the month of April and all year round, it is critical to take the time to read on your own. It is a time to celebrate the importance of reading, foster children's growth as readers and promote a lifelong love of literature and integration into the world of work.
Through reading and the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day, 23 April, we can open ourselves to others despite distance, and we can travel thanks to imagination.
In the preparation for World Book and Copyright Day, UNESCO encourages you to challenge yourself, to explore new topics, formats, or genres that out of your ordinary. Our goal is to engage people in reading, and to have fun doing so! Now is the opportunity to: As a celebration for this year's World's Book and Copyright Day, UNESCO has created a Bookfacechallenge.
The book covers are incredibly important and play a vital role in our buying decisions. We’re all extremely judgemental about covers. The pandemic has also reminded us all of the importance of books and reading for comfort and escapism, we’ve all needed it this past year. We're always glad to see when a title has been well presented, as a good cover can make or break a title.

Reading is more important now than ever because it makes us learn new things, it takes us to another world to disconnect us from the real world, we put ourselves in the skin of other people (characters), it relaxes us, it makes us have more imagination…
The quote that speaks my mind best is this one of Plato: "Books give a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything."
ReplyDeleteFor me reading is more important now than ever, because nowadays most of the people spend a lot of hours in front of a screen, and little by little we are becoming less and less sociable. However reading opens you new doors, it allows you to meet new people and to have something to talk with others. Reading is as well beneficial to our mental health and it helps people with lenguages providing them new vocabulary.

Because it provides a type of entertainment that doesn’t require any electronic device and that, at the same time, helps you develop your creativity and critical thinking. Moreover, not only does reading allow you to travel without leaving your home, but it also gives you the opportunity to discover new stories and get to know all sorts of characters. It’s a great way to spend your free time, and it can even distract you from whatever problem you’ve got
going on.

In my opinion, reading is very important because it provides you a lot of new vocabulary and expressions. Reading can also make you feel relaxed and you gain imagination and ideas. I also think that books can make you feel alive, because you can imagine that you are the main character who lives all the adventures.

ReplyDeleteReading is a great way to learn, just in general. You can obtain a wide variety of vocabulary (even in a foreign language!), while also having the opportunity to unwind and get immersed in a whole different world, maybe to relax at the end of the day or to forget your weekly struggles. As stereotypical as it seems, we live constantly checking social media, and connected to the internet in some way, making us dependent on it. Whenever we don’t know something, we just look it up instantly. That is a great thing to have, but the large amount of information that you can find online makes it difficult to identify as reliable. That hardly ever happens with books, taking into account that they are revised before being published. Books are the perfect balance between entertainment and knowledge, with an immense number of options (from fantasy, to historical ones), and I will always recommend everyone reading.
Books are the plain, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.

From my point of view, reading is now more important than ever because, nowadays, we live in a world that is always pretending and trying to make everything more simple and smaller, books, give us a complex and huge vocabulary and capacity of comprehension, books also give us a critical way of thinking, very important in the current times in which we're constantly bombed with loads of information and ideas, which veracity we don't know .
Reading now is more important because in these times with technology, online games... Many people forget what a book is. Reading is a fantastic thing, you are transported to another world and you imagine the scenes in your head. It also helps you a lot to write correctly and improve your vocabulary.

ReplyDeleteI think that read is very important for us because I think that is a type to learn. If you read you can express better and have more vocabulary, but not is only good for these. Also to read is very important because, when you are reading you open like a door of imagination and all that you are reading, mentally you are seen the action in your mind. If you read you transform a book to a history. And I love reading because each one can imagine the thing that they want.
In my opinion, reading is very important because you learn many new things with books and it also helps us to be away from the screens and thus not to have so many vision problems, so the best thing is to read a book.

ReplyDeleteI’m my view reading nowadays reading is extremely important as new generations aren’t used to it.
I think that any quote of these represent me, so I going to put my favourite quote: "Reading is escape, adventure, fun, infinity. Reality is harsh, cruel, suffocating, limiting. I don't look for reality in a book, why? We already deal with it every day. Reality is closed, it tells you that something blue must be blue. And what happens if I want it to be green or if it isn't even a color?" I love this quote because I read for this, escape from the reality. I think read is importante because we learn culture, education, adventures, careers etc. We learn a lot of things that maybe we don't learn in the day after day.
