Islamic art shapes and patterns in Islamic art


In this lesson the students will learn to use Islamic Arts as a tool to learn shapes and geometry in a cultural context. In addition, the students will develop a sense of different cultural identities.


SESSION ONE


Firstly we're going to work on a presentation showing different shapes and patterns used in Islamic art. 




SESSION TWO


TAKING INTO ACCOUNT ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE PREVIOUS LESSON AND THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN A DOCUMENT BELOW, our students must CREATE their OWN PIECE OF ISLAMIC ART (The activity sheet can help you out) AND EXPLAIN WHY IT CAN BE CONSIDERED ISLAMIC ART, HIGHLIGHTING THE key ELEMENTS THAT ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS ART TYPE. They can choose from the topics below:

1. Nature

2. Vegetal and Floral art

3. Geometrical Art

4. Calligraphy
