You and Your Community #ESO4 #LearningSituation #communitywork #SDGs #SustainableDevelopmentGoals

What?

Our ESO4 students will work on the concept of "Community" in a Collaborative learning activity.

They will reflect first in small groups about what “community” means to them, and this will turn their focus of interest into disseminating the different ways they can find to help their community.

The students will be challenged to record, research and work on field collecting rubbish.

ACTIVITY RATIONALE:

The strategies that allow the improvement of production, both formal and informal, include motivation and awareness, research, acquisition of knowledge, using this knowledge in real life. The co-teachers are required to be planning, monitoring and validating the students performance, as well as the students’ assessment of the activity, their self-assessment and co-assessment.

The learning situation related to the production of text, either oral or written, fulfils important functions in the academic environment since they are essential for the acquisition of key competences and challenges of the 21st century related to them, such as the appreciation of the preservation of our biodiversity, confidence in knowledge and acquisition of it via research, as an engine of development or the critical, ethical and responsible use of our surroundings, which allow the social and civic development of students.

Hands on activity: organising a clean up to contribute to our community

FLYER (Marina)

MEDIATION:  taking the clean up as a starting point, the students will mediate by creating a flyer/poster using simple strategies and acquired knowledge/experience aimed at explaining concepts or transmitting information in an efficient and clear way. In mediation, students must act as a social agent in charge of creating bridges and helping to construct or express messages in a dialogic way between different registers of the same language, incorporating strategies related to mediation.
