WHAT IS A CAROUSEL BRAINSTORMING?
It is an effective strategy to promote active learning, collaboration, and creativity in the classroom. It can be applied to various subjects and topics, that is the reason why our teacher Dr. Victoria Merino has job-shadowed our teacher Ms. Susana González, because the former wanted to learn this technique so as to apply it in her science lessons thus allowing students to explore and generate ideas in an interactive and inclusive manner.
Students actively engage in generating ideas and contribute to the brainstorming process, promoting active learning.
Students work in groups and build upon each other's ideas, fostering collaboration and teamwork skills.
The physical movement involved in carousel brainstorming keeps students engaged and energized, making the brainstorming process more dynamic and interactive.
The technique encourages students to think creatively, generate new ideas, and think critically about the topic at hand.
The rotation through stations exposes students to a variety of ideas and perspectives, broadening their understanding of the topic.
The students are organised into different stations around the classroom, each focusing on a specific topic or question related to the lesson or project. These stations can be book excerpts, charts, posters, or any other visual representation of the topic.
Once all groups have visited each station, the students are re-organised as a whole class and facilitate a discussion about the ideas generated. The teacher must now encourage students to share the most interesting or innovative concepts they encountered during the carousel brainstorming.
