Applying the knowledge acquired in the British Council training course on the Talk For Writing Approach with Julia Strong (Talk for Writing in Secondary Expert)

One of the techniques they learnt in the very first session of the training course was "Text Mapping". According to Jerry Webster, text mapping is a visual technique to help students understand how information is organised in content area text. It involves marking different text features as a means to better understand and retain the content in a content area text/book or in a fiction reading book/extract.

In this case, we explored the definition in Year 2 (8th graders) using a video and its lyrics (below). The Scientific Method Song is a science song that teaches the seven steps of the scientific method: Observation, Question, Hypothesis, Prediction, Experiment, Analyse Data, and Draw a Conclusion. It is very helpful to learn the steps of the Scientific Method.

First you make an observation of the world around

Take notes and record all the things that you found

Then you form a hypothesis to explain what you observed

Then you make a prediction about how it's gonna go
