Read Aloud time in our #alqareading Book club

Allowing students to read aloud in our literacy lessons contributes to the development of well-rounded language skills, while also promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

There are studies that support that reading aloud helps students to improve their pronunciation and fluency, which is essential for effective communication.

Comprehensible input is tge basis of our book clubs: Reading aloud has been prove to boost Comprehension since it engages with the text actively, promoting better understanding of the material. It allows our students to ask questions and seek clarification as they read.

Public speaking is a valuable skill, and reading aloud in class helps students gain self confidence in their speaking abilities, which can benefit them in various aspects of life. What is more, it enhances Critical Thinking Skills development since reading aloud encourages students to analyse the text, identify key points, and think critically about the content they are reading.

Finally, it is a very useful tool to identify students who may be struggling with reading or comprehension issues and so it is a powerful tool to then plan and provide additional support or resources.
