What famous people are there in Britain? Famous British Historical Figures Project #COTEACHING

 Famous British Historical Figures Project

OBJECTIVE: Our students will learn about significant British historical figures, develop research skills, enhance presentation abilities, and explore creative ways to convey historical information by means of introducing artificial intelligence tools.

Outline

1. BIOGRAPHY

Each pair of students will select from a given list a famous British historical figure to research. They should gather detailed information about the person's life, achievements, and historical significance. The output must be a concise, written biography that covers key aspects of the historical figure's life, including birth, major accomplishments, and impact on history.

2. PREPARING A PRESENTATION

Using the research gathered, the students will prepare a presentation to share with their classmates. This should include visual aids such as slides or a digital presentation. Some guidelines to prepare it:

  • Include a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Use images, quotes, and any other media to illustrate your points and to make the presentation engaging.
  • Practise presentation speaking skills: eye contact, clear speech, and confident body language.

3. Interview your HISTORICAL FIGURE PROJECT using an AI APP

Our students will use an AI application to create an interview with their chosen historical figure. They will generate questions and use AI to simulate the responses of the historical figure. They must formulate thoughtful and relevant questions and they must make sure the AI-generated answers are accurate and reflect the historical context and biography written for the first part of this project.

4. POSTER DESIGN

Our students will design a poster that visually represents their historical figure. The poster should be informative and aesthetically appealing: they must create an eye-catching and informative poster.

5. Extra credit? USE the interview to transform it:

  • into a HISTORY RADIO PODCAST, creating an audio podcast where the students perform the interview, adding historical context and a commentary.
  • into a VIDEO, producing a video of the interview, possibly including reenactments or students disguising themselves as the historical figure.
  • into an animated presentation with an off-voice, developing an animated presentation where the interview is narrated over animated visuals.

Whole project Presentation

Our students will present their entire project to the class, including their biography, presentation, interview, poster, and any extra credit work. We have insisted on the importance of mentioning the sources used in the research (webliography/bibliography). Thus, they must work on summarising the key points from each part of the project and engaging with the class by encouraging questions and discussions.
