Images can be powerful ways of communicating. People instinctively respond to images based on their personalities, associations, and previous experience. In this activity our students must create a new cover design for the book they are reading or about to read in #AlQaReading. This is a way to make predictions and to explore concepts such as character, plot, setting, symbolism, and even conflict. As a class, let's look at the cover for our book. When we finish our books we will discuss if the cover art reflecte the content and mood of our #AlQaReading book.
According to Edutopia, in their article: "How Students Can Learn From Judging a Book by Its Cover", a close collaborative analysis of the text and graphics on book covers makes for a powerful literacy activity.
