MEDIATION: A Day in a Nazi Concentration Camp
Your history teacher, Patricia Clemente has already provided you with a very detailed accounf of the historical context of the Holocaust and the role of concentration camps. In literacy, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of analysing these events from both a critical and humanistic perspective. For this purpose you are going to watch a video and take notes using a given note-taking template, specifically designed for this.
YOUR TASK:
Individual work
- Watch the video, paying close attention to the aspects outlined in the provided template.
- Underline or use colors to mark the most impactful or relevant ideas.
- Focus on answering the comprehension questions internally through your notes as you watch the video.
Pair Work Mediation Activity
In each pair, one student will act as the “mediator” (explaining the content) and the other as the “receiver” (asking questions to clarify doubts).
The mediators will use their notes to explain what they learnt from the video to their partner.
The receivers will ask questions based on the comprehension questions and any other doubts they have, fostering an enriching dialogue.
Then, you will swap roles to ensure that everyone practices both roles.
