Critical Thinking strategies and Word Maps in chapter 1 "The Boy at the Back of the Class" #alqareading #bookclub
I think from CHAPTER ONE of our book there is something we must always remember: An empty chair can hold the promise of new stories. Let’s discover them together. Do you agree?
SAMPLES OF STUDENTS' WORK
CRITICAL THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING STRATEGIES
In the Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Activities, our students had to answer different discussion questions:
- What difficulties do you think Ahmet might face as the new boy?
- How could you make a new student feel welcome?
Then, in a Problem-Solving learning situation, the students had to imagine Ahmet spoke no English so they had to brainstorm solutions: how could they help him? In doing so, they had to create a mini-poster with their ideas.
In these activities, the students performed a vocabulary work by designing Word Maps using al least three of the following target words: stationery, detention, freckles, imagination, bouncy, scowl, whisper, promise.
