Biomes of the World. Decoding and Presentations: creativity + scientific thinking: learning to read data, analyse images & communicate their understanding
In this lesson, our classroom turned into a miniature world map: full of climates, landscapes, and curious explorers. Our students worked with information cards about climate zones and the world’s major biomes, using them as building blocks to create their own posters. Each group chose a biome and brought it to life visually, carefully selecting key details about climate, vegetation, wildlife, and location.
But the learning didn’t stop at glue and markers. Once the posters were ready, our students stepped into the role of experts. They presented their biome to the class, explaining what makes it unique and how climate shapes life there. Along the way, they practiced reading and interpreting climograms, learning how temperature and rainfall tell the story of a place. Photographs added another layer, challenging students to connect visual clues (plants, landforms, weather) to the correct biome.
The result was a lesson that blended creativity with scientific thinking. Our students didn’t just memorise facts; they learnt to read data, analyse images, and communicate their understanding with confidence. In short, they didn’t just study biomes; they presented them, decoded them, and made them their own. This is our co-teaching methodology working.
