Our Own Noise Diary: Collecting real data and looking for Practical Solutions to Reduce Noise & Raising Awareness in our School Community

Practical Solutions to Reduce Noise & Raising Awareness in our School Community

We are getting there! to the end of the preparation for the final product of this project. We continue developing our project by:

  • Investigating real-life examples of noise pollution in our local environment.
  • Proposing practical solutions to reduce noise and improve health.
  • Preparing materials to raise awareness in our school and community.

We have started to record entries in our NOISE DIARY and we have found out that examples of excessive decibels at school include loud voices, screaming of students, or students running in hallways, shuffling papers, moving chairs, shouting, etc. The levels in the canteen are beyond healthy levels too.

So, basically noise pollution in our school, as we have researched, commonly stems from high-density student "activity" (human action), poor building acoustics of our school (we need a change), and from external disruptions like horns, ambulances, etc, frequently exceeding safe, recommended levels (that is the reason why awareness is important).

TIME TO START WITH OUR AWARENESS CAMPAIGN!!!
