Interpreting graphs: language Skills in Social Science
Learning and understanding the skills, vocabulary and language for describing charts, pyramids, graphs, diagrams, etc. is essential for any student for any subject, and it is a skill to be trained because it will be useful in many different fields of life outside the classroom. This is the reason why we have worked in a CROSS-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY in which the students learnt the vocabulary in the Literacy Lesson, with Ms. María José Díaz (ICE-BREAKING AND PRESENTATION OF USEFUL EXPRESSIONS); these students, similarly worked on the language skills needed for social sciences with their teachers Marina Hurtado and Mónica Lanero. Likewise, the students are now ready to finish the Science project about Drugs (Drugs and your life: it is not funny) by putting into practice all the tools at their disposal and using their previous practice in social science so as to describe a chart that shows the figures of alcohol abuse in the UK (Teachers: Marina Hurtado and Ms. Vanessa Donaire).
