Deductive Thinking and Graphing the information: ISLAMIC ART

ISLAMIC ART: Deductive Thinking Approach and Graphing the Information

When teaching basic knowledge we may help students deduce this precise content: Islamic Art. Then the students can organise the acquired basic knowledge by using graphic organisers so as to aid understanding. When doing so it's important to follow a structured approach in which the Language skills are present:

First, we should highlight the specific content or topic that our students will be working on. Deductive Thinking Methodologies.

How did we do so in our co-teaching lesson:

   - We started with an overview of the content (Islamic Art) by the History specialist, in order to provide context.

   - Then the Language Advisor encouraged our students to make predictions based on previous knowledge.

   - We adjusted their predictions and guided them through a graphic organiser.

Our students were guided to work on a section of the content: shapes and patterns in Islamic Art.

We provided constructive feedback and support to help them improve as they were creating their own graphic materials, individually.

This approach can be applied to different topics and types of content in order to reinforce deductive thinking and graphic organiser skills.
