BRAINSTORMING SOLUTIONS IN OUR PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE: ESO3

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS IN OUR PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE

The students of ESO3 have been working on the most significant issues the NHS in the UK are facing and they have concluded those issues could be also attributed to our health system in Spain, although we all agreed on the fact that a public health system is the best option to provide universal healthcare. 

We have read a text (realia) watched a couple of videos and then started discussion and brainstorming, and hence, critical thinking.

Below there is a summary of their remarks and proposed solutions:

- More money should be invested on public healthcare.
- More investment in medical research.
- More efficient wating lists. This could be solvedwith a greater amount of doctors and nurses.
- More investment in specialist doctors and nurses.
- Young people should be encourage to study careers related to health because staff at hospitals is needed. 

-  Allowing innovation is very important. 

- Facilities in hospitals and health centres should be improved.
- More hospitals should be built. This way patients would be distributed among different hospitals, avoiding the collapse of some others.
- More cleaning staff should be hired.
- A greater budget to improve hospitals: Regular refurbishment of buildings.
- The richest people should pay a tax to finance machinery.
- The system should be centralised so the resources are equally distributed all around the country.
- Availabilty of hospitals close enough to alltowns, cities and villages.
