History Comes Alive: Students Exchange Historical Letters

We are excited to share a look at one of our recent classroom projects that brought history to life in a personal and creative way!

For this assignment, each student was tasked with choosing a historical figure and stepping directly into their shoes. Writing as their chosen figure, students crafted a full-page letter addressed to a fellow classmate, detailing:

  • Who they were and the era they lived in

  • Key life achievements and historical contributions

  • Personal details and intriguing anecdotes to bring their story to life

Originality and presentation were key components, encouraging students to think beyond standard textbook facts and truly embody their figures.

Seeing the students exchange and read their letters aloud in class was an incredible experience. From revolutionary thinkers to pioneering scientists, the classroom was filled with engaging stories, authentic presentation, and creative flair.

This hands-on approach allowed students to not only deepen their knowledge of historical figures but also connect with their peers through interactive storytelling. Check out the photos from the activity below!
