  1. The tittle of this map is MAJOR WORLD STATES AND COLONIAL POSSESIONS, 1990. It does not have a scale, but it has a legend which consists on different colors that represent the different states.

This is a worl map, therefore we can see all the countries around the Earth. Each country is filled with one color which corresponds to the country it belonged to as it is shown in the legend. This map is from 1914, so currently, this is not true.

During that period of time, the most powerful empires were colonising countries around the world, this is why the colours are used; in order to show who the coloniser was in each territory. That period of time was very important, as due to colonisation and the conquering of other countries, many technological advances were made. This also had a great impact refering to the spreading of languages and religion, as colonisers imposed their mother tongue and their beliefs. This is not as positive as we tend to think, bacause many dialects and local religions dissapeared, but thanks to this huge colonisation, the world is even more interconnected.

  2. The map is showing us about MAJOR WORLD STATES AND COLONIAL POSSESIONS of 1990.I think their isnt any scale that shows the distance

It is a world map but there are some countries which are shown with some colors, i thing which is more important countries the countries that has shown in color in the map are Belgium,France,German empire,Great Britain,Italy,Netherlands,Portugal,Spain,United states but they are not all shown in same color for example Belgium is light blue color , France is in green color and Italy is in yellow color ETC .This color help us to know which country is possesed which country it is a good way to understand .This map shows us the countries posessed in 1900.

I think in that period the wealthy countries were trying to have wars to poor countries which help them to posess easily . If they posess more countries they will have more power. This map is created to know about who have got the each land. If the enemies countries is less powerful than their . they would fight for the land .We can see threw the map in that period there was many war which killed many innocent peoples .It was a very difficult period compare to our 21th century.

The map is showing the entire world in the beginning of the 20th century. It doesn't have any type of scale.

The most important countries are shown in different colours, to differentiate them from the other countries. In this period of time the countries were trying to acquire more territories, and for example, we can see that Great Britain is very big, and it's in a lot of places around the world. The world has changed a lot since then, and the countries are very different now from what we can see in the map. I think that because countries expanded to other places the culture has been more and more similar in different places of the world, and a lot of countries lost their uniqueness.

  4. The title of this map is Major World States And Colonial Possessions, 1990, This map doesn´t have a scale or a compass, but it has a legend that consists on different colors that represent the territories that belonged to each empire.

This map is a world map, so in the map appears all the countries of the world. In the legend appear different colors that represent the territories that belonged to each empire. This map is from 1914 as it appears in the title.

This map represents the world in an imperialism time, the most powerful empires wanted more territories around the world so they were colonising different countries. ANALYSING A MAP: MAJOR WORLD STATES AND COLONIAL POWERS

I am going to analyse the map of the Major World States and Colonial Possessions. No scales are shown, and the legend is a colour guide of the map.
It shows all of the independent states, empires and colonial possessions. Every colour represents a colonial empire, and their colonies also have the same colour. Other independent states are represented with a yellow colour. It is from 1900, until 1914.
During this time in history, the colonial powers had achieved their whole potential, because of the imperialist movement. It was created to show the geopolitical situation of the time. If we observe the countries, we can see really big empires, and fewer independent states in zones such as the African continent. Nowadays, we can observe way more self sovereignty.
This map can help you understand the concept of imperialism, as we can see many colonial empires, such as the British and French Empires.

The title of this map is MAJOR WORLD STATES AND COLONIAL POSSESSIONS, 1990. It hasn´t got a scale or a compass, only it has a legend which is showing us that each color represents from which empire or country belongs each territory.

In the map we can see all the countries and continents of the world because it is a world map, but it is from 1914.
The beginning of the 20th century was a world dominated by empires. In 1900 Imperialism and Colonialism were at their peak represented, above all, by the rise of the British, the French and the German, as we can see in the map.
Since that period of time until now, the world has change so much. We can observe there were many countries that possessed a lot of territories and now they have very few.

In conclusion, it is a map from the Imperialism period which helps us to know and see the territories of each empire and it helps us also to see how the world has change.

  7. HISTORICAL MAP ANALYSIS

This map, whose title makes mention of its aim, depicts Imperialism in the Modern World, and shows how Africa and other territories were colonized by the super powers of the world.
Regarding the details, there is not a scale that indicates the dimensions of a real size map. However, the map has a legend in which the different territories that belong to each empire are represented. It is considered to be a political world map because, although it does not correspond to the current situation, all countries and continents are labelled.
At this time, the rise of Imperialism gained importance. Conquering countries (known as mother countries), acquired and dominated regions around the world, which were referred to as colonies.
As it is shown here, the greatest colonial empires belonged to the British Empire and the French Empire, which were the biggest ones. Germany, Italy and Belgium began their expansion later. Imperialism led to a disastrous demographic impact, the transformation of traditional society and the spread of acculturation.
If it were compared to a current map, we could clearly observe how the circumstances have changed. Not only are most territories a sovereignty, but also states that do not depend on others. Nevertheless, it should also be taken into account that it has been due to colonisation that many territories have lost certain aspects of their uniqueness.

  8. This map represents the world at the beggining of the 20th century. We can see that imperialism is probably at its greater point in all history.

From west to east we see the United States, a country that created strong economic dependance to Latin America and occupied the Philippines and Puerto Rico; Portugal, acountry that in the past controlled Brasil and divided the world with Spain and by the 20th century controlled several islands and african countries; Spain, the first country to start imperialism in America which controlled half of the world althought by this time it only kept Morocco, Rio de Oro and the Canary Islands.

The next one is the British Empire, the largest empire by this time. It controlled half of Africa, India, Australia and New Zealand. In the past it also controlled the USA and Canada. The next one is France, a country that controlled almost all North Africa, Madagascar and Indochina; and was the second largest colonial empire. We also have Italy, that controlled Libya, Eritrea and Somalia and Germany, thet kept control in South-West Africa, East Africa, Cameroon and the Bismarck Archipelago.

The Russian Empire controlled mostly all countries that sorrounded it. And finally we have Japan, a country thet invaded Korea and Taiwan.

In conclusion it is clear that South America, Africa, Oceania and several parts of Asia were colonies by the start of the 20th century.
