Our 4th Year students investigated about some of the places that appear in their #alqareading book Pride and Prejudice. The novel is primarily set in rural England during the late 18th century. The story takes place in the fictional town of Meryton, which is located in the county of Hertfordshire. The Bennet family resides in a country estate called Longbourn, which is described as a modest property with a small income. The novel frequently depicts scenes set within Longbourn, showcasing the daily lives and interactions of the family members. The rural setting of Longbourn provides a backdrop for the social customs and expectations of the time.
The novel also includes scenes set in other locations, such as Netherfield Park, the neighboring estate where Mr. Bingley and his sisters reside, and Rosings Park, the grand estate of Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Additionally, towards the latter part of the story, the characters visit London, providing a contrast to the rural setting and introducing a different social atmosphere.
