Let's learn HOW TO DEFINE IN HISTORY!

For 3rd graders

Let's imagine we need to define ENLIGHTMENT. We will do it by answering the questions stated in the infographic:

WHAT? and/or WHO? 

It is an intellectual movement 

WHERE?

which originated in France 

WHEN?

during the 18th century. 

WHY? and/or HOW?

It focused on two important goals: criticising the Old Regime as an unfair system and proposing how to change it through the theories of Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Rousseau. ENLIGHTMENT encouraged the Revolutions from the end of the 18th century.

Let's imagine we need to define ARMISTICE. We will do it by answering the questions stated in the infographic:

WHAT? and/or WHO? 

It is an agreement for the cessation of active hostilities between two or more belligerents. Generally, the terms, scope, and duration of an armistice are determined by the contracting belligerents. In this case we are referring to the armistice that was signed by representatives from Germany, France, England and some countries from the Allies 

WHERE?

It took place on a train near the French town of Compiègne. 

WHEN?

on November 11th 1918. 

WHY? and/or HOW?

German population had demanded Wilhelm II (kaisser from German Empire) the end of the war because they were exhausted and the major powers had left the war ( Austro-Hungarian Empire, Ottoman Empire). This armistice marked the end of the First World War.
