HIP-HOP-HISTORY in ESO4: Founding Fathers Rap in #ESO4

ACTIVITY BY MS. MÓNICA LANERO, IN COORDINATION WITH OUR LANGUAGE ASSISTANT, JALEN ZEMAN

The students had to choose a sentence of the song that is related to one of the characters in the American Revolution and then, they had to post a comment  in their google classroom virtual task, so as to explain with a simple sentence, using their own words, to whom the sentence of the rap is related and why they thought so.

The students we not allowed to REPEAT A SENTENCE already EXPLAINED BY their CLASSMATES. Ms. Mónica Lanero expected a comment from each student.

The song lyrics were not easy to understand, that's why Jalen had edited a great video for the students to watch  in the first place. The founding Fathers rap is a funny video

NEEDLESS TO SAY, the students had to READ ALL OF THE COMMENTS posted BY their CLASSMATES BEFORE POSTING their own.

STUDENTS' COMMENTS

Carla Sánchez Marcos

"They call me the General" George Washigton because he was a very important person in the Battle Bunker Hill and he guided U.S. to the victory.

Nerea Palomino Durán

I think the sentence "Tommy P, gonna kick some Common Sense" is related to Thomas Paine because he was the one who wrote "Common Sense".

Pablo Pacheco Penis

"Its time to to kick some Brit-a__" Its related to the various battles in america with Britain, (as for the independence or civil was), they won several of them.

Roberto González Alés

The sentence "straight from Virginia, this required my attendance"  is related with Thomas Jefferson as he studied in the University of Willian and Mary located in Virginia.

Sofía Vasco Gómez

I think that the sentence "I’m getting chilly down in Philly y’all, you know it’s my town" is related to Benjamin Franklin because he lived many years in Philadelphia and he also dead there.

Irene Merayo Urbano

“I get electric when I fly my kite” relates to Benjamin Franklin. This is because of the experiment he carried out in 1752, which consisted of flying a kite with a key tied to it during a thunderstorm. This way, he could prove how lightnings are related to electricity.

Lydia Martín Tejedor

“I wrote the letter and my homeless called it divine” This sentence is related to Thomas Jefferson because he wrote the draft of the Declaration of Independence in June 1776.

Luna Muvilla Campos

I think the sentence "Johnny H come and kick it on the dotted line" is related to John Hancock as he was the first member of the Continental Congress to sign the Declaration of Independence

Teacher Ms. Mónica Lanero's FEEDBACK:

Ok, you were quick to post, but several questions:  The General is in fact Washington, but he was not at the battle of Bunker Hill, which was one of the earliest ones, near to Boston. In fact at that time he was not yet leading the continental army. But of course, he led the Americans - not yet the US_ to victory. Nerea, you are right. Pablo, that's true, but you have to relate each sentence to a character, as they are talking about a person, and provide an example of battles won by the Americans. Britain.

Roberto: of course you are right about Thomas Jefferson, but it was not only because he went to such a College, in fact he was a wealthy landowner in Virginia and he was a representative  of such a colony in the Continental Congress.

Great! Irene

Ok Sofía, he lived there, he died there. He was the representative  for the state of Pennsylvania (such a city is the capital) in the continental Congress.
